Tidal current energy turbines extract energy generation from the sea is an exciting proposition, it is becoming a viable technology, is currently the subject of much attention in the research, so this trend of vertical axis turbines can be studied. This paper summarizes the current research status energy generation device for vertical axis tidal current energy turbines theoretical basis of numerical simulation were introduced, also introduced the principle of numerical simulation calculations. Combination of physical model test data, identify the most suitable computational model calculation, then the numerical simulation results obtained with the physical model in a reliable measurement error range the conclusion, then the vertical axis tidal current energy turbines for further study. In this paper, the number of vanes, flow velocity, the blade airfoil, the radius of the impeller, the shroud, a combination of different aspects savonius blades, turbine obtained under different conditions of the flow field in Figure, the torque curve, the efficiency curve observed dynamic performance parameters change with different trends. The results show that when the tip speed is small, a larger number of blades, a small flow velocity, the chord length is longer, the larger the radius of the turbine efficiency is slightly higher; when the tip speed is large, a smaller number of vanes, flow velocity larger chord length smaller radius smaller turbine efficiency slightly higher. Airfoil thickness, increasing the width of the inlet shroud can significantly improve the efficiency of the turbine. In this study of these different conditions of turbine flow field, torque, power, efficiency, research and analysis, look for changes in the law, in-depth study of the trend of vertical axis turbines can provide a theoretical basis.
