To Build A University Campus Based On Local Characteristics

The construction and development of university campus in China vary with the modernization of high level education. Recently, More Universities focus on building large spaced campus; however they ignored the importance of creating a regional campus environment. This situation results in lack of consideration of social, humanities, ecology, landscape and psychology. This paper focused on the issue with lack of regional characteristics in university campus construction, throughout academic research, analysis and comparison to find out the appropriate way to construct a regional university campus environment. The discussion will base on element explanation and design approach. In addition, the paper will include Nanjing institute of tourism and hospitality as a real example to explain some contents.This paper is divided into seven chapters, and the main contents are as follows. In the first chapter, the research will firstly elaborate the background and social significance of this subject in the macro level, and then build up a research framework. The second chapter will search and summarize the relevant literature of construction plan in China and foreign countries, to find out the related theoretical disciplines for the construction plan of campus. The third chapter will analyze the connection of campus spatial planning between scope, figure, functionality, transportation, construction, landscape and external environment aspects. This section summarizes the current situation of campus construction planning and future developing trends. In the fourth chapter, it will mainly discuss the concept of regionalism, nature and inscape. Meanwhile, this section also outlined the influence of campus construction plan by regional characteristics. In the fifth chapter, the research will combine the method of space construction and current situation in Nanjing institute of tourism and hospitality, discuss the directions and solutions to construct the regional campus environment in Nanjing institute of tourism and hospitality. The last chapter will conclude the results of this research. Specifically summarize the characteristics of regional campus space construction and look forward to the future.
