As an essential part of public buildings, such as hotel buildings, the HVAC system not only has huge energy consumption during its operation, but also discharges lots of waste heat to the outside environment. In today’s society, the energy crisis has been more and more serious. However, the shortage of energy resource is not the only reason. The impact of low energy efficiency can’t be ignored. For hotel buildings, there is large heat demand for the production of domestic hot water during the period when refrigeration is required. So the recovery of the condensing heat in groundwater source heat pump system is researched in the article based on the phenomenon discussed previously. Using the condensing heat to meet the heat demand for domestic hot water production is demonstrated to be rational. The benefits of heat recovery in groundwater source heat pump system are talked from three points of view:economy, energy conservation and environmental protection.Firstly, the concept of condensing heat is defined based on the cooling principle of HVAC system. Then the rationality of using condensing heat is demonstrated and different types of condensing heat recovery are talked. Secondly, the application of condensing heat recovery in groundwater source heat pump system is analyzed in following points of view:the applicability of groundwater source heat pump system, the effect of hot water temperature and condensation temperature on the condensation heat recovery application, the asynchrony between hot water load and cooling load and the coefficient of performance. Thirdly, the groundwater source heat pump condensing heat recovery system form of the project on which the article is depended is determined based on the analysis before and the calculation of air-conditioning load and domestic hot water load. Also, the simulation of the system is conducted by TRNSYS. The results show that the heating demand for domestic hot water can be met by the system’s condensing heat and the cooling system is still in normal operation after joining the heat recovery system. In addition, the heat discharged to the groundwater is reduced by 20% compared to conventional form, which is beneficial to maintaining the stability and balance of the groundwater environment.Finally, the contrast among condensing heat recovery system, electric boiler heating system and gas boiler heating system is made from three aspects:economy, energy-saving performance and environmental protection. The results show that the annual operation cost, primary energy consumption and pollutant emissions all declines significantly condensing heat recovery. There are obvious economic benefits, energy-saving benefits and environmental protection benefits in groundwater source heat pump condensing heat recovery system.
