In the Wenchuan Earthquake of Sichuan on May 12,2008,the damage of many reinforced concrete frame structure schools is very serious,which brought a large number of casualties to the local teachers and students.After that,the proportion of frame structure in new school buildings is becoming higher and higher.As the whole lateral rigidity of single span and cantilever frame structure is relatively small, the lateral deformation is large in strong earthquake,and the seismic line of the structural system is single,the redundancy is few.When it comes to some of the frame columns destabilizing damage,it is likely to forms the whole structure turnover. From the perspective of increasing the seismic line,increasing a small amount of wing wall close the column of the pure frame structure could come to be considered,to form the flange frame column structure. In order to change the failure mechanism of the structure,to improve the seismic performance of the structure, and to enhance the overall collapse resistance of the structure.In this paper, with the aid of the finite element analysis software Midas/Building, through doing some Push-over analysis and dynamic time history analysis of the pure frame structure and the flange frame column structure,we could evaluate the mechanical properties,yield failure mechanism and the overall collapse resistance of two the kinds of structure type.All modes are analyzed by the Vibration mode decomposition response spectrum method. At the edge of the frame column of a typical pure frame structure school building,we decorated wing wall with different lengths and different positions, then the reasonable length and the arrangement of the wing wall will comes to be a conclusion.Finally, by PKPM modeling analysis,the amount and the total price of two main materials which are concrete and steel as a contrast, and then compare the economy of the two kinds of structure types.The conclusion indicates that,the flange frame column structure is a good way to improve layer of the elastic and elastic-plastic deformation, and improve the ability to resist collapse of frame structure, improve the plastic hinge distribution, and to form a "strong column and weak beam"failure mechanism.At last,this structure has a certain economic rationality.
