Electric power system is the lifeline of the country’s rapid economic development. Large transformer which is power grid nodes and hub, is one of the most important and most expensive power equipment in entire power system. With the rapid development of power system and the rise of single transformer voltage level and capacity, large transformer’s operational status is directly related to the security and stability of the entire power system operation. So far, Inner Mongolia EHV Power Supply Bureau is responsible for the jurisdiction of 500 kV power transformer substation of Inner Mongolia Power Grid 15 seats, substation capacity is 18,000 MVA.Safe and stable operation of 500 kV transformer is directly related to the stability of the entire power grid transmission. Therefore, how to scientific and reasonable arrangement for maintenance has become an important part of the rapid development of power industry.Condition-based maintenance which is a scientific and effective maintenance management mode, is the change of the traditional maintenance mode to solve the over repairment, neglect, significantly reducing the cost of doing business in traditional maintenance mode. It is also the trend of development of power transmission equipment maintenance. Condition-based maintenance is an advanced maintenance management mode to arrange scientific and rational maintenance time through the advanced condition monitoring and fault diagnosis means.The subject combined with the actual situation of EHV Power Supply Bureau of Inner Mongolia transformer maintenance work, collects and analyzes and summarizes the reasons, the nature and mechanism of transformer fault, it also introduces the data collection methods of the day-to-day running of large power transformers. Combined with the production MIS system of Inner Mongolia EHV Power Supply Bureau, fuzzy mathematics method and expert system model is established based on the theory of transformer condition evaluation system. We also define the terms, conditions and transformer state maintenance strategy. At the last, we definite A, B, C, D four overhaul, define the normal state, attentional state, the abnormal state and serious state transformer maintenance strategy. At the same time, regular or irregular assessing the health status of the transformer is providing the basis of carrying out transformers condition-based maintenance for EHV Power Supply Bureau of Inner Mongolia.
