With the continuous development of science and technology, as well as human’s strong desire to improve their living environment, building a green substation becomes an inevitable trend for countries to construct their national power grid. Although no specific evaluation index system for green substations has been applied by countries around the world, the green building evaluation standards have achieved some effects.China has a late beginning in research and construction of the green substations. However, under the circumstances of the national advocation of energy saving and environmental protection in recent years, Guangdong province, as a national economically powerful province, intially started the construction of green power grid. A 110 kv green construction pilot has been built in 2009 in the pearl river delta region. Subsequently in 2010, a batch of 220 kv green construction pilot has been designed and constructed. At present, the green substation still belongs to the type of new concept substation transformer substation. Only a small number of it is in the practical engineering construction, and the green water supply and drainage design of transformer substation is not mature, which are still in the exploratory stage. There should be discussed further in the research.Based on a 220 kv substation green grid demonstration project, around all conditions and requirements of building water supply and drainage design in the green building evaluation standard, combined with practical engineering project comprehensively analyzing the geographical location and topography, water conditions, the same drainage, the design scope and other relevant content, from the water saving, energy saving, emission reduction, low carbon and so on, this article determines the green substation optimization design of water supply and drainage, and analyzes the feasibility of the optimized design scheme and its economic effect, social effect and environmental effect.The key points about water supply and drainage engineering optimization design that this case mainly contains include:(1) the reasonable choices of energy-efficient water-saving sanitary ware;(2) solar technology used within water supply system;(3) the roof rainwater recycling system;(4) the integration of sewage treatment process;(5) the optimization of fire water supply equipment and piping layout, etc. Furthermore, this article has focused more on the use of non-traditional water resources and water reuse technology, with comparison by the trditional design of the water supply and drainage substation the through tecinical index, economic benefit and environmental evaluation. This has finally provided a reliable and useful design experience for the green substation water supply and drainage design and has great reference value for engineering application.
