Line loss rate of distribution network, which is also named loss rate of energy, is an important and comprehensive factor of a company’s production and supply management technology. Especially with the development of social economic, the demand for electricity is also increasing, besides, the size and the structure of the grid is also more big and complex, and the corresponding power loss is also increasing, which make the meaning of lowering power loss more significant.10 kV line loss accounts for the largest proportion of the whole distribution network line loss. Therefore, it is meaningful for county power enterprises to study a method of line loss calculation and put forward suitable energy saving measures.Firstly, the paper analyzed and summarized theoretical methods and development direction of line loss calculation at home and abroad. According to the structure and characteristics of different voltage level in distribution network, it researched on several relatively practical theoretical calculation methods of line loss as well as optimized loss reduction measures.Secondly, the paper studied the theory problem of comprehensive line loss calculation, mathematical models and related algorithms including:power flow calculation, reactive power optimization, calculation of reactive power compensation and optimization in medium and low voltage distribution network. The advantages and disadvantages of several commonly used can be concluded by analysis and comparison.Then take a typical county-Ying Shang of Anhui province as an example, the paper introduces the distribution, the load and equipment situation of the distribution network. With the measured data of daily load, we analyzed the problems existing in current distribution network. What’s more, by actual measured data of one typical representative day, we analyzed the calculation results and found out line loss distribution of Ying Shang country and the problems existing in the management work.Finally, aim at the problems reflected by measurement and calculation of Ying Shang country, we took the following measures specifically from reality:to adjust grid structure of power grid, to increase the wattles compensation capacity, to replace the coarse wire section and high energy consumption of transformer, to improve the distribution transformer load rate and strengthen balanced management of three-phase load in low-voltage lines. Though analysis of those measurements, we got a conclusion which can provide some reference for the power supply enterprise on loss reduction measures.
