The national total nitrogen oxide emissions in China in 2009 were 16.927 million tons,of which the electric power industry account for 49%. China promulgated and implemented the "thermal power plant air pollutant emission standards" in January 1, 2012, in which the standard for emissions of air pollutants for thermal power was clearly defined. It is estimated that the reduction of the total nitrogen oxide emissions will be 5.8 million tons up to 2015, after the implementation of the new standard. The content of nitrogen oxide in the flue gas after the burning process are more than 650 mg/Nm3 in the Jing long power plant in Inner Mongolia. The large amount of nitrogen oxide emissions contributes to the air pollution problem, and cannot meet the national emission standards. In this paper, the writer takes the unit 1 as an example. Firstly, we studied the low NOx combustion technology both in China and abroad. Secondly, on the basis of the actual situation of the unitl, we designed an plan for the low nitrogen combustion retrofit of the Unite 1 boiler and proposed the optimization and adjustment programs after burner transformation. Lastly, the final NOx emissions after the burning process are 260 mg/Nm3 or less, in other words, it meets the NOx emissions requirements. In addition, this study provides a demonstration for the transformation of Unit 2.
