Water shortage is gradually becoming the main factors that influence the sustainable development of national economy of our country. Reservoir is an important engineering measures to adjust and restore flood, plays an important role in flood control, water supply, irrigation, power generation and shipping. Along with the social development, technology progress, give full play to the storage capacity of reservoir, on the premise of not increase the risk of flood control to make more flood resources into available water resources has the practical significance to alleviate the problem of shortage of the current water resources.With multivariate joint analysis of hydrological events become the research focus, Copula function gradually applied to the analysis of hydrological events. First, establish the joint distribution of the flood time and peak flow based on Copula function, and applied the model to the design of flood season staging of Hongfeng reservoir, calculated the stage design flood and through flood regulating calculation get reservoir staged limit water level. Then, establish the M-Copula function model to separate analysis the relationship of flood peak and volume of flood, upstream flood and interval flood, and respectively calculated the Longyangxia and Liujiaxia reservoir inflow design flood, to study the Longyangxia-Liujiaxia cascade reservoir operation water level in accordance with the principle of scheduling. The results show that both the single reservoir stage design and the cascade reservoir water level dynamic control can raise the operation water level in the flood season to increase the reservoir comprehensive benefits. Copula function provides a new train of thought to analysis for the flood event and has a certain practicality.
