In order to guarantee the reliability、economy and applicability of power system operation, and improve the quality of voltage, the requirements of the power flow calculation speed and precision, which is the precondition of stable operation of power system is higher and higher.At the beginning of the grid’s construction, there are many calculation methods for distribution network power flow. Including power generation method, the fast decoupling method, Gauss-Seidel method, Newton-Ralph method which is under the rectangular coordinate form or under the polar coordinate form and circuit impedance method, and so on. All these different methods have different effect in the convergence performance and calculation speed. In this paper, firstly, we do some derive calculation for several kinds of power flow calculation method, and then compares them using an example. In particular, we compare the results of calculation and convergence speed、the number of iterations of them.The main work of this article is to introduce some methods about calculating the current distribution networks and do a comparisom. In these methods, we identified that forward and backward substitution method is stable and this method is applicable to the distribution network flow calculation. Meanwhile, we do some improved for forward and backward substitution method, and added a new method called fast storage node admittance matrix. It can better to enhance the calculation speed.Finally, this article has do some compared for some methods. The methods are improved forward and backward substitution method and other methods. The major systems are 8-note system and IEEE-30 system. The result suggests that the improved forward and backward substitution method used in the distribution power flow calculation is sutable. And the calculation has increased.
