Cracking of reinforced concrete member is one of the research topics by experts at home and abroad.Along with national standard Code for Design of Concrete Structures (GB50010-2010) issued and implemented, China is clearly put forward the HRB400, HRB500 rebar as the leading rebar used in reinforced concrete structures in our country. Grade HRB500 rebar produced by metallurgical industry in our country is a new production with excellent properties applied in high strength reinforced concrete structures. At present, the rapid development of China’s construction industry, in architectural engineering, to promote the use of high-strength reinforced to meet the building construction project quality requirements, improve building construction in disaster preventions and mitigation capabilities, to protect people’s lives and property. With the continuous improvement of yield strength rebar, components used in the serviceability limit state of the rebar stress, the crack width is also a corresponding increase in impact strength which is a major factor in promoting the use of rebar. To solve the problems in using the high strength rebar in China and make the high strength rebar prevail, and also to control the crack width and deflection, this paper provides a kind of way, namely concrete with skin reinforcement can better control the crack width. This topic for colleges and universities in Jiangsu province natural sciences research project (11 kjb560005) "with the surface of reinforced concrete beam using properties and the design theory research".. In view of the purpose, the following have been carried out in this dissertation.(1) Eight concrete beams reinforced with high-strength bars, of which five are with HRB500 reinforcement and three with HRB400 reinforcement, are tested to investigate their cracking and deflection characteristics. the main parameters include the strength of concrete, concrete cover thickness, the diameter of rebar, the skin reinforcement spacing.(2) The concrete beam with skin reinforcement and without skin reinforcement’s flexural property theory analysis mainly in the following aspects:the deflection analysis, bending moment, the average crack width and steel bar stress analysis, stiffness and maximum crack width calculation in this paper. According to the experimental data and previous experimental data, deduced a new formula of stiffness calculation and the average crack width by Linear regression method, it provide guidance and reference for concrete beam with skin reinforcement’s engineering application.(3) This paper based on the specimen material parameters, size and the real process of the experiment,ABAQUS has been applied to carry out the nonlinear finite element analysis of the fourteen test beams and simulated experiment.(4) This paper adopts the theory of reinforced concrete structure model, through the ABAQUS model results and the experimental results, comparing the cracking load, ultimate load and deflection of the beam and the steel strain, it can be seen that the finite element numerical results, the theoretical analysis results and test results of the three are close to. The suggested formula to calculate the crack width is good agreement with the test crack width. Thus it is concluded that the correctness of the proposed formula for the theory.
