Research On Pre-modern Railway Station In Shanxi Province

The Railway station building is a new kind of building produced in pre-modern period of China, and it also occupies an important position in the traffic architecture. Railway station building as period of new buildings, is the historical testimony of this special period, so the study of railway station building, is a window of research on pre-modern building in shanxi, show the pre-modern railway development in shanxi’s trajectory and one side of the traffic construction in pre-modern. The study is not only a further understanding of architectural diversity, is also a useful supplement to the modern architecture style.The beginning of pre-modern railway construction in shanxi’s main cause is abundant and high quality of coal resources in Shanxi province, the station construction which was born, become a new type of shanxi pre-modern buildings, is also an important part of pre-modern architecture research. Shanxi built the first railway in 1907,named Zhengtai railway, then built with Tongpu railway runs through north and south in Shanxi province in 1933, and a series of regional railway, along the railway architectural modeling exquisite, style each different, is a unique set of Shanxi pre-modern architecture building type.In this paper, based on a wide basis of relevant information on the Shanxi pre-modern railway station building, field research on the pre-modern railway station construction in Shanxi province, surveying and mapping, visiting related personnel, made a more comprehensive statistics of the existing railway station building in pre-modern of Shanxi province, analyzes the various railway station buildings of historical evolution, summarizes the basic stages of development of pre-modern railway construction in Shanxi, sorts through a large number of examples, based on this, focus on surveying and mapping some important building’s layout, facade and architectural details, so as to reveal the architectural basic types and characteristics of pre-modern railway station in Shanxi province, and keep these precious buildings for the necessary information, presented preliminary ideas and protection strategies to raise public awareness of the protection of architectural heritage.
