Xinjiang is one of the districts where earthquakes are likely to hapeen. On the other hand, duo to lacking of seismic design and construction measures, most of rural residences in Xinjiang province have poor seismic capacity. All of these result in great losses in previous earthquakes. For example, Bachu-Jiashi Earthquake happened in 2003 caused the collapse of large number of rural residences, and brought huge losses to the people of Xinjiang province. So the government of Xinjiang province proposed the comfortable housing project. By reforming and constructing rural buildings in seismic prone areas, the comfortable project improves the seismic capacity of all kinds of buildings and at the same time reduces the casualties and losses caused by the earthquakes. After the implementation of comfortable housing project, these buildings have not experienced any destructive earthquakes, so whether they can reflect good seismic performance and reduce the losses to the resident in the future needs further research. Given that masonry buildings are widely distributed in the rural areas, this paper chooses masonry structures as the research object, and investigate the seismic capacity of those buildings through shaking table test, then use nonlinear time history analysis method to simulate the test. This paper completes the following work:1. Shaking table test of a 1:2 scale house building model was designed andbuilt, and input four acceleration time-histories that are the same sitecondition with Xinjiang, at last we finish the shaking table test.2. Shaking table test was carried out to study the seismic capacity ofeconomy housing building with construction measures and investigatefailure model of masonry buildings.3. Use the nonlinear time history analysis method to simulate the model ofthe test, and compare the result bettwen simulation and the test.4. Select typical buildings of Xinjiang comfortable project and analyse theseismic vulnerability of masonry stuctures of Xinjiang comfortableproject in different site classifications by nonlinear seismic time historyresponse analysis.Calculate and analyse the seismic vulnerability of themodel.
