Centrifugal compressor plays an important role in many industrial sectors, however, at present, the development of the compressor technology still can not meet the needs of the industrial manufacture in China. Due to the drawbacks of high cost, complex program, unpredictable of the product in the process of design, simulation and experiment, firstly, we have explored a kind of calculation software used for structural design and changing-condition performance prediction of centrifugal compressor. Secondly, based on the above theory, we made an intensive study on the performance of centrifugal compressor.Based on the summaries of the design theory and method of centrifugal compressor, we have finished the parametric structure design using Microsoft Visual C++ language. Through programming for the rapid calculation of the main structural parameters of compressor in order to design a kind of centrifugal compressor with small flow and high pressure. All kinds of flow losses of the impeller and the diffuser were full accounted including the friction loss on the blade surface, the load loss on the blade, the mixing loss on the blade wake, the tip clearance loss, the leak loss, and the loss of the internal and the outlet of the diffuser. According to the compressor structural and pneumatic parameters, establishing mathematic loss model which was conform to the actual flow and computer integrated using VC++ in order to finish the programming of the changing-condition prediction software, and thus realize the changing-condition calculation using this software, which was verified by the experimental model.The compressor performance error was within 3% through the comparison of the results from the numeric calculation using the 3D model and the performance calculation using the changing-condition prediction software, which further verified the accuracy of the changing-condition prediction software. We have made an intensive study of the compressor internal flow problem and the impeller structure performance using the changing-condition prediction software, which offered an important reference for the compressor design, optimization and simulation.Design and optimization of the scheme on N2 circulation for ammonia synthesis using compressor unit, and further investigating the property conversion of the compressor. Using similarity modeling design method, and comprehensive considering the technical requirements to prevent centrifugal compressor from resonance surge and over temperature, to calculate the process parameters of the ammonia synthesis gas compressor unit when the nitrogen circular driving; Makes the simulation calculation and scheme optimization by using chemical calculation software. This case is of great significance and reference for the performance prediction using different media, applying the prediction software to the compressor property conversion will become a focus in the research.
