In recent years, for the enormous losses and painful lessons that the earthquake and the accidential disaters(exploding, fire, terrist attacks and so on) have brought, the research of robustness has made waves in the structural engineering industry because the structural robustness is important for the promotion of the structure progressive collapse resistance capacity. The high-performance concrete frame shear structure is widely used so that it is highly significant to study the robustness for seismic structures.Firstly, this paper analyze the robustness. The definition of robustness is discussed. Moreover, different assessment indicators is comparatively analyzed and their adventures and disadventures is listed. Then the discussion of robustness for seismic structures is made.Secondly, the anti-property of frame shear structures is discussed from two aspects: loading features of each member when the structure is under the action of horizontal earthquake and failure modes during severer earthquake. The most possible failure modes is listed.Thirdly, the vulnerability coefficients and importance factors of components is introduced. On the basis of others’ researches, the vulnerability coefficients is improved. The method how the above-mentioned coeffients is got is presented aferwards. Based on the vulnerability coefficients and importance factors of components, the robustness factor is resulted.Lastly, appropriate HPC frame-shear wall structure model is selected. The assessment indicators of structural robustness above-mentioned is adopted so that how the vulnerability coefficients and importance factors of components are distributed can be identified. Through the Pushover analysis, the development of plastic hinge rule agrees with the vulnerability coefficients. Compared with frame structure, the importance factors of components is not prominent for the synergistic effect of the frame with the shear wall,which benifits the structural robustness of the frame-shear wall structure a lot. Meanwhile, the study proves the rationality and applicability of the assessment indicators. This paper proves a train of how to optimize the robustness of the frame-shear wall structure.
