With the rapid development of transportation in our country, we are speeding up the research of locomotive vehicle technology. Running at more harsh conditions, we put forward higher requirements on the performance of the locomotive. Locomotive bogie is the research emphasis of locomotive drive system, the coupling is an important part in driving system, requests to achieve high torque transmission and high speed operation, and can realize the connection in a very small space, also is the difficulty in design. In order to solve the design problem of end-toothed disc, the paper will combine with FEA method to analyze the straight end-toothed coupling and the arc end-toothed coupling, including parameter calculation of end-toothed coupling and stress analysis, three-dimensional modeling and virtual assembly, the finite element analysis.(1) According to the locomotive factory providing the data of locomotive drive system, we understand the working principle of the whole locomotive driver system. For locomotive currently use the data of straight end-toothed coupling to reverse, the parameter calculation formula is derived, and check contact fatigue strength and bending fatigue strength of straight end-toothed discs.(2) Adopted the Pro/E software to built the three-dimensional of the straight end-toothed discs, modeling are completely assembled by the Pro/E component module, have guaranteed the assembly model accuracy by interference check. In order to simplify the calculation, using Hypermesh as the pre-processing software, finish the pretreatment of finite element model, including classification and inspection of the finite element grid; cell properties and real constant setting; establishing contact and loading; solver setting, etc. The finite element model will be imported into ANSYS to solve. Analysis of straight end-toothed disc surface contact stress and bending stress change rule in the loading process. In addition, end-toothed coupling will produce axial releasing force during running, in order to prevent the connection failure, the axial bolt are used to connecting and fastening, using Matlab software programming achieve the design of axial bolt combination.(3) In order to grasp the stress distribution of arc end-toothed disc in the same condition. We will carry on parametric design and stress analysis to the arc end-toothed disc under the same working conditions, carry on the finite element method to analyze strength, compare with straight end-toothed discs.Through the structure performance analysis of the end-toothed coupling, we can master the structure characteristics and design approach of the end-toothed disc and provide some certain reference for the application of the end-toothed disc on locomotive.
