As the era of progress and growth of national economy, electric energy has become more and more indispensable in our daily life, so we ask for higher demands to the power quality. Therefore, each department of power system regards power quality problems as an important indicator and works hard to perfect it. Due to the power quality problem is caused by all kinds of power disturbances, so it is necessary to detect and record the disturbance signal, and extract the disturbance characteristics from huge amounts of power quality data, complete disturbance signal automatic classification recognition. Most of the existing processing method is to use the program code for the implementation of business logic, for large-scale power quality data, it consuming more time, and can’t handle real-time data, not only poor system scalability but also make high maintenance cost.. To help users make inferences, and make a wise decision, we need to identify characteristic from existing equipment monitoring data, and classification them. How to make it possible is the problem of electric power information system to face with.Complex Event Processing (CEP) technology can help us extract important and strategic information from existing data, not only that, the biggest advantage of it is to handle the real-time data, this can let us get the most useful information in the shortest possible time. Therefore, in order to get better use of power quality monitoring data and make reasonable power quality forecast, we introduce complex event processing technology to the intelligent information system of power quality. For power system related departments, it can provide technical support for the safe and stable operation of power grid, and provide a reasonable reason to solve the power quality problem effectively and timely.In this paper, we study complex event processing technology, on the basis of the existing power quality intelligent information system, combined with complex event processing technology in the huge amounts of data real-time processing advantages, carried out based on the complex event processing technology of classification of power quality disturbance monitoring system design and work. Analyze power quality disturbance problems, and based on the existing mathematical analysis methods, puts forward a model that the complex event processing technology is applied to power quality monitoring system. Based on the analysis of the model, we give some key steps of research and design, and for the core of the system module, we discuss how to design and implementation in detail. Comparing the existing methods and traditional way by the experiment, it verified that based on complex event processing is more efficient in classifying of power quality disturbance. The business logic processing is very fast and simple, and has strong scalability, during program runtime we can modify and expand the business logic without having to modify the program code.
