With the modernization of China’s cities accelerates, people rely on electricity is also growing. Taiyuan is the capital of Shanxi Province, but also cultural, political, economic core of Shanxi. As the core city of Shanxi Province, Taiyuan’s power task is very arduous. Once a power failure occurs, it will cause a very serious negative impact in the province or even the country. Back in 2009, on the basis of social solicit expert advice and recommendations, based on China’s actual conditions and international trends, state grid proposed building and developing distribution automation objectives and expected the completion of widespread smart grid by 2020. Thus, Taiyuan electric power company Xiaodian branch respond positively to the call of the state grid, committed to promoting scientific and technological progress in the region, promote local economic development. Comply with the relevant distribution network construction regulations and requirements strictly. Carry out the project of distribution automation construction in Xiaodian branch.This paper discusses and designs the distribution automation projects according to the actual situation of Xiaodian branch of Taiyuan electric power company. According to the actual proposed hardware and software designs solutions of distribution automation systems. Analysis of the operation of the distribution network and terminal sub-station, and puts forward the corresponding transformation plans and programs. Followed by a transformation of the opening and closing stations, terminal equipment, power distribution room and load switches. Then compares several existing communication modes, depending on the actual grid, chooses a reasonable means of communication, designs the communication protocol and peripheral interfaces. Connects The terminal to the grid distribution automation systems. Established a complete distribution network system. Finally, discusses the practical problems in engineering, works out solutions for those problems, contributes to the follow-up study. Practice has proved that the distribution network design method discussed in this paper can be large-scale promotion.
