NVH has got more and more attention as a means to reduce the vibration of engine in order to ensure a strong competitiveness of the automobile industry with improving the vehicle comfort. As well, it has played an important role in protecting environment and health. With the development of computer technology, general FEM simulation software and the test system based on VI have appeared and developed quickly, which provides technical support to reduce engine vibration through the structure optimization.The mean issue is the vibration simulation and test of JX493 diesel engine, which provides the basis for realizing the structure optimization. In this paper, the engine modal analysis and harmonic response analysis results have been got, and vibration testing system based on VI technology has been established, which provides the data for structure optimization.In the last part of the paper, a structure optimization of engine by FEM has been achieved on the basis of vibration simulation analysis and test result. What’s more, a new engine structure optimization scheme combined with the traditional design method has been put forward. The analysis result shows that the structure optimization has made the inherent frequency increased and the mass of engine reduced successfully. It can be said that the structure optimization has got the successful implementation.
