In recent years, tribological properties of materials are more and more excellent with the continuous development of new materials, such as joint bearing, which is widely used in aviation, railways, military and other advanced technology areas. Heavy-duty (20~50t) working condition determines more stringent requirements of reliability and service life of the material. Heavy-duty reciprocating friction tester is prepared to evaluate the friction and wear properties of material under heavy-duty condition for the heavy-duty reciprocating friction tester research gap. Friendly measurement and control system with high accuracy and stability is developed. The system has data acquisition, processing, control and storage features.The mechanical structure and hydraulic loading mode of heavy-duty reciprocating friction tester are improved to meet the requirements of heavy-duty. Three-dimensional model of the tester is established by SolidWorks. The static and dynamic mechanical performance of the structure is analyzed by ANSYS Workbench. The results of static analysis, modal analysis and harmonic response analysis provide a theoretical basis for the frequency range and the structure optimization. The study shows that static and dynamic mechanical performance is good enough to meet the requirements.The overall design principle of measurement and control system of the tester is discussed based on the characteristics of the tester measurement and control system. The hardware platform of the measurement and control system is constructed, including the acquisition of test parameters, test data communication, anti-jamming measure, etc. According to the modular method, the friendly software of the tester measurement and control system is developed by Visual Basic and Visual C++. The main function interface is introduced. The methods are put forward to analyze and process the dynamic friction signals in the test process. The inertial force produced by the error of the test results is calculated by the mathematical model. The dynamic friction is filtered by Butterworth digital filter.Finally, the static and dynamic mechanical performance, the hardware and software properties of measurement and control system are verified by heavy load test,high speed test and conventional test. The results prove the tester reliable and stable.
