Large luffing jib tower crane is seen as a must-have device for the construction of ultra-high-rise building. With the popularization of tall buildings, an increasing number of luffing jib tower crane will be used. Because of the heavier standard section and higher climbing altitude, the traditional climbing system is no longer fit for it. The climbing progress is accident-prone, how to realize the safe and convenient climb is the emphasis and difficulty for luffing jib tower crane during the whole design and use period. In the design process of luffing jib tower crane, CAD modeling and CAE analysis need to be conducted. At present, the domestic development units usually adopt the method of CAD/CAE-independent, which has low innovation and design efficiency. How to integrate structure design and simulation analysis, rapidly complete the design of mechanical products, is a key problem to be solved.In this paper, a feasible luffing jib tower crane climbing system is designed, a CAD/CAE integrated method based on the conceptual model is put forward, which is applied in the design of the jacking frame for luffing jib tower crane. The main jobs of this paper are as followed:(1) By analyzing the external climbing theory of luffing jib tower crane, an external climbing system of large luffing jib tower crane is designed. Using the jacking trim system/embedded ladder, realized a self-balancing and internal/external standard section shared climbing.The jacking frame/lifting cylinder/jacking enclosure frame provided enough space for standard section, Incoming beam/trolley/lifting sling bring standard section into the frame.(2) By analyzing the internal climbing theory of luffing jib tower crane, an internal climbing system of large luffing jib tower crane is designed. Such as the self transitions of climbing claws, the adjustable puller device and unitized climbing belt, to realize the safe and convenient internal climbing;(3) An integrated method based on the conceptual model is proposed. By using NX/WAVE and top-down modeling idea, concept design and integration method are combined to achieve the integrated design of big assemblies;(4) In integrated software Siemens NX8.0, the jacking frame’s integrated model of650T-M luffing jib tower crane is built, then,the integration of the structure design and simulation analysis for jacking frame is implemented, which verify the feasibility of integrated design method based on the concept.
