As the improving of living standard and the growing of living area per capital, the requirement of refrigeration capacity covering a bigger space has been heightened. Traditional household air conditioner has been unable to meet the demand, scroll compressor used only for commercial air conditioning then starts to been used gradually into the household field, as to this facility, only single-phase induction motor can be widely used as its lower cost and higher reliability than others. However, single-phase induction motor which has been used in scroll compressor is low efficiency, hard starting and high cost. In order to solve the increasing environmental pollution, the government has introduced policies and regulations related aimed at "Energy-saving emission reduction".At present, scroll compressor commonly used in air conditioning and heat pump on the market, which is famous for its high efficiency and low noise is the most energy saving compressor. In order to meet the demand of the market and further promoting energy saving and emission reduction, it is necessary to do some research on optimizing the single-phase motor. So far there is not so much research on the application and design of scroll compressor used single-phase induction motor. This paper made a systematically study as follows.The research method through combining features of structure and the magnetic circuit of single-phase motor with compressor applications is proposed, including reducing the outer diameter of the rotor, increasing yoke width and decreasing yoke flux of stator, increasing refrigerant circulation area to fix the questions above. This optimizing design can increase efficiency and starting performance of single-phase motor.The electromagnetic calculation program was compiled, and its parameters are calculated by using the program. Then the FEM model is established and analyzed by MagNet. The results show that the prototype is more efficiency, larger locked torque, lower locked current and shorter starting time. So the performance has been improved significantly.Meanwhile, the prototype has been made, and through the motor and compressor application tests, it can verify the motor performance. The results show that with the combination thought, using the optimizing design methods above and effective manufacturing technique, motor efficiency is raised, compressor starting performance is better and material cost is reduced. This research can provide technical reference about the single-phase motor used in scroll compressor.
