| In this article, the object researched is about light-weight design of axle housing,this is enterprise’key projects. Combine with the2D drawings of drive axle housing, themodel of the3D finite element analysis was built.Then confirm the boundary conditionsof drive axle housing in five typical conditions, and import this model into ANSYSWorkbench integration platform for structural strength analysis. After that get the stressand strain analysis results in five kinds of working conditions, also can get the naturalfrequency and vibration mode in free constraint condition, which conclude that theperformance of drive axle housing is reliable and don’t cause the resonance in allvarious driving conditions. Meanwhile, there is margin for optimization of this driveaxle housing.According to the characteristics of the resistance strain gauge, the stress situations ofkey points on drive axle housing are measured by axle bench test. There are little errorsbetween experimental and theoretical calculation value by comparing with the results ofthe finite element analysis. But the errors are in standard permission scope. Then theconclusion is that the finite element model established in this article could be provedaccurate.On this basis, use the Design Exploration Module of ANSYS Workbench forstructural design optimization of the drive axle housing, mainly utilize the method ofmulti-objective driven optimization to minimize the weight of axle housing on thepremise of satisfying the strength and stiffness. Ultimately, with a8.14Kg weightreduction, a more reasonable distribution in stress and strain and the material utilizationratio is significant improved. At last the purpose of the axle light weight design wasachieved.The methods provided to solve related engineering problems by ANSYS Workbenchintegrated platform in this article, which can improve work efficiency on the practicalengineering applications and provide a better solution for products’ design research.Solution to the problem described in this article has a strong universal and can providereference for preliminary design and analysis of different types of drive axle housing. |
