Electrode material plays a vital role in the development and application of vanadium battery. The study on vanadium battery electrode material includes:The choice and preparation of electrode material with different matrix, the structure optimization, surface modification and simulation of electrode. As key material of vanadium battery, electrode possesses significant influence on battery performance and service life. Therefore, the electrochemical activity and chemical stability of electrode surface turn into significant influence factor. At the end of the20th century, carbon black filled conductive composite becomes new type material in the field of polymer field and develops rapidly. By filling polymer matrix into carbon black, conductive composite possesses adjustable electronic, mechanical and thermal property in large range. As a result, it offers broad prospects. To make conductive composite possess outstanding electro-conductivity and corrosion resistance by mixing conductive filler and organic matrix evenly, is a research hotspot at this stage.In this thesis, PS, PVC, HDPE, PTFE, PP were taken as matrix, nanoscale carbon black as filler, to prepare CB/PS, CB/PVC, CB/HDPE, CB/PTFE, CB/PP conductive composite with handmade single screw extrusion kneader. To ascertain the appropriate technology, the influence of different carbon black content and mixing temperature on the volume resistivity of conductive composite was investigated, under the condition of mixing5times, screw revolution50:1,15Mpa pressure. Electrode was prepared from nanoscale carbon black/polymer (PS, PVC, HDPE, PTFE, PP). Electrochemical performance in the system of different carbon black content and scan rate and corrosion resistance of electrode surface after300times cyclic voltammetry were investigated with electrochemical workstation.Nanoscale carbon black/polymer conductive composite prepared by single screw extrusion kneader possessed small percolation threshold; when carbon black content was high, mixing temperature influenced slightly on volume resistivity. To prevent the polymer decomposition, CB/PS, CB/PVC, CB/HDPE, CB/PTFE, CB/PP were mixed at220℃,150℃,160℃,260℃,235℃respectively. When carbon black content was above30%, the volume resistivity of conductive composite electrode was small. When scan rate was50mV·s-1, nanoscale carbon black/polymer conductive composite electrode possessed superior electrochemical signals in vanadium battery electrolyte. When carbon black was40%, nanoscale carbon black/polymer conductive composite electrode possessed superior electrochemical performance. By comparing the electrochemical activity and volume resistivity of conductive composite electrode with different matrix in vanadium cell, it is asserted that CB/PTFE possessed superior conductivity, electrochemical activity and corrosion resistance and was suitable for vanadium battery.
