Crawler bulldozers are modern self-traveling shovel soil transportation machinery. It is widely used in engineering construction. The crawler walking mechanism is the important component of bulldozers. In the process of working in the bulldozers, walking device of bulldozers are working under all type of pressure and torque. The performance quality of crawler walking mechanism directly influence the performance of the whole machine. The traditional crawler walking mechanism design method with the shortcomings of development cycle is long, the cost higher. But the virtual prototype technology good solve the shortcomings. China’s current bulldozers walking design of the device is widely adopted by the virtual prototype technology, it is accorded with the demands of the market, and it can achieve reasonable design, short the cycle, the purpose of the cost savings.In this paper, we analyzed the basic composition and the working principle of the crawler walking mechanism, analyzed the key parts of walk device structure, and analyzed the mechanical properties of the device and kinematic characteristics. It used Pro/E and ADAMS established the virtual prototype of crawler walking mechanism of caterpillar bulldozers. Then got the result of dynamic simulation analysis. The force between driving sprockets, a thrust wheel and the creeper tread were got from the simulation analysis. This work was provided the theoretical basis for improving design of the other crawler walking mechanism.It analyzed the thrust wheel, riding wheel, driving sprockets of the crawler walking mechanism by using WORKBENCH, and got maximum stresses of the dangerous parts of the fourth strength theories of quite stress. Analysis shows that the design was reasonable, satisfy the intensity of the component conditions. Experimental the thrust wheel, the riding wheel and the creeper tread of walking device. Collected these chassis parts in each operation under load data, and the experimental analyzed of the data processing. According to be the measuring point strain valued, through combining with the finite element analysis to indirect gain the interaction force between the thrust wheel, the riding wheel and the creeper tread.
