The phenomenon of insufficient output have occured from time to time ofhydropower station, especially small hydropower station. This not only affects theeconomic benifit of hydropower station,but also caused hydraulic waste of resources.At present, method of model test, field test and numerical simulation were used tosearch the reason. Because the formal two methods of high cost, taking into account theeconomic capacity of small hydropower stations, numerical simulation method isadopted in this paper. Taking Handan Shexian Taizhuang small hydropower station asan example, the reasons of the lack of the turbine output analyzed. Through thenumerical simulation of the diversion system, it is found that the local structural designis unreasonable, then the optimization retrofit design was done, numerical simulationresults show that after the modification the head loss modification significantly reducedthan before.Firstly, a three-dimensional domain was established about diversion system of TaiZhuang hydropower station, and is made of high quality mesh. Among them, the voluteof tetrahedral grid, the other uses hexahedral mesh, so as to obtain accurate calculationresults are foundationSecondly, the numerical solution of different software is applied to solve thecalculation model respectively., The Fluent software was used for transient numericalcalculation,from the open channel to the press tube. And the CFX software was used forsteady state of the spiral. Practice shows that, this calculation is easy and quick, and canobtain more accurate results. The calculation results show that the pressure pipe inletstructure design is unreasonable, cause the head loss greatly, and cause the turbineoutput decreases, amounted to less than the rated output, the rest are all meet therequirements of engineering structure design.Finally, according to the actual situation of hydropower station, the unreasonablestructure of pressure pipe inlet by local optimization retrofit.The modified design was tocarry on numerical simulation, comparison of modified front head loss is obviouslyreduced.The results of this study have important theoretical and practical significance,onimprovement of the water inlet of hydropower station diversion pipeline design method and improve its working performance...
