In recent years, with the rapid development of high-speed railway, the telecommunication system for high-speed railway is faced with new challenge and new opportunities. In order to adapt to the rapid changing environment of high-speed railway and meet the increasing demands of mobile users, the LTE communication system becomes a hot research. Also, it is becoming more and more necessary for us to fully understand the properties of high-speed railway radio channels. This paper presents a research on the channel parameter estimation and high-speed railway channel model. Firstly, the paper introduced the properties of wireless fading channels. Large-scale and small-scale characteristics are both investigated. Secondly, this paper analysis three channel parameter estimation methods, including spectrum estimation, parameter subspace estimation and Maximum likelihood estimation. Then the research SAGE algorithm is given to analyze the performance of the SAGE algorithm. In addition, the improvement of initialization and the application in near fields of SAGE algorithm are also given. Thirdly, based on the measured data, the model of four a typical urban and suburban environment in Beijing. Also, the channel model of the plain and mountain scenarios are presented. The specification on the log-normal shadowing path loss model is investigated. Path loss exponent and standard deviation of shadow fading of the two different scenarios are studied and compared. In particular, small-scale fading properties such as multipath number, Ricean K factor are also considered. The results based on the measurements provides reliable prediction of communication ranges, which is advantageous in the design of future communication systems and relative applications.
