Double-circular-arc gear which has advantages of high contact loading capacityand steady transmission developed rapidly and used widely in china. This articleresearched the contact fatigue stress limits of ZY-1type case-hardeneddouble-circular-arc gear that applied to the field of low-speed heavy-loads. Startingstudying from contact stress,by means of theoretical evidence and finite elementanalysis,then combining with stress field intensity approach(SFI)and fatigue analysistheory,we compared contact stress of ZY-1type double-circular-arc gear with that ofinvolute gear in the condition of same material,parameter and load. And on this basis,the contact fatigue stress limits of ZY-1type double-circular-arc has been suggested.The main work of this paper includes as follows:1)according to the difference of tooth shape between ZY-1type and nationalstandard of double-circular-arc gear,the contact arc length factor and contact markwidth have been modified respectively,and then the contact stress formula of ZY-1type has also been established.2)the3-D solid models of ZY-1type double-circular-arc gear were created inSolidWorks2012by programming macro;while,the3-D solid model of involute gearwith same parameters were also established by extracting key points data fromMATLAB.3)with the meshing period divided into nine part,both type of gear were analyzedrespectively in the static module of ANSYS. We acquired the change regularity ofcontact mark and stress value in different meshing locations,and then compared thestress value of finite element analysis with that of calculated by formula.4)based on dynamic procedure ABAQUS/Explicit,the dynamic contact simulatedanalysis for both type of gear were executed,and we gained the stress nephogram,as well as the time history curve of both axial force and friction. Moreover,we alsoplotted the curve that the maximum stress changes with time. Dynamic behavior ofboth type of gear were contrasted;The result of static analysis also compared withdynamic analysis.5)on the basis of stress field intensity approach and finite element method,analysis for fatigue life of both type of gear were carried. Using the ANSYS fatigueanalysis module,we got the fatigue life of both gear in different stress level,and then the relationship of contact fatigue stress limits between both type of gear wereappeared. Referring to the existing test results,the contact fatigue stress limits rangeof ZY-1type case-hardened double-circular-arc gear were determined approximatively.
