Due to the harsh marine environment and the complex movement of FPSO, the mooring system can easily break down. The prototype-based site monitoring technology can provide valuable information for monitoring the working situation of FPSO in real time and ensure the working safety. The existing monitoring technology can only monitor part of the FPSO, rather than the overall situation. Moreover, we cannot simulate the marine environment accurately just by laboratory experiments, because of the limitation of testing space. Offshore platform moving simulation system is based on VR technology, which can effectively overcome these limitations and provide new guidance for the study of the characteristics of FPSO.This paper describes soft yoke single point mooring system in detail. It mainly monitors the structure information of the platform and the environment factors. The movement posture and characteristics of FPSO is analyzed deeply. Through comparing their spectrum data, it is found that pitching motion of the hull and the mooring legs has the approximate frequency, and the frequency of the rolling motion of hull and the high frequency of the mooring legs are similar. Besides, the hull yawing is the main factor that causing the low frequency oscillation of mooring leg. Furthermore, the effects of environmental factors such as wind, wave and flow have been analyzed to find the influence on the movement of hull and mooring gesture. A three-dimensional motion simulation system of FPSO is established upon the study of the coupled motion between the hull and mooring systems. The simplified FPSO model and the realistic marine environment are rendered in this system, and on the basis of spot data, the real moving posture of the FPSO is calculated. By changing the freedom nodes, the system can simulate multi-DOF motion of FPSO, and reproduce the true state of FPSO in the sea. The whole system is a typical application of Virtual Reality in the field of offshore platforms.FPSO site monitoring system is firstly proposed in our country to realize the long-term field monitoring of soft yoke mooring FPSO. The system provides valuable information for the motion analysis and structural design of FPSO. On the basis of spot data, the moving posture of FPSO is analyzed and simulated in this system. Meanwhile, the interaction between the hull and mooring system can be truly and effectively demonstrated. The results will provide guidance for the research of FPSO, and safe operation at sea can also be assured.
