With a long history of200years, the motor industry has become an important part in modern production and life that occupies an important position in the countries’economic production and has been widely used in various fields, such as railway transportation, oil drilling, wind power, and household appliances. As an important part of the motor, the quality of coil directly affects the safety and the life of motor. Along with the development of information technology and transformation of production mode, the productionゝcoil product has transformed from mass production into lean production of many varieties and small batch gradually. However, there is a fault stage between the planning management in the top level and the control management in the bottom level which goes against information integration, thus higher requirements are asked for the construction level of informatization in the enterprises.Manufacturing execution systems (MES) is a management system oriented to workshop production which is located between planning management system in the top level of the enterprise and the control system in the bottom level. It provides production plan execution, tracking and current status information of related resources, and gives feedback to top managers in time, which fills the "gap" between enterprise-class management and bottom control level. It is an effective tool for the workshop production management and control. Thus, taking large motor enterprise’s coil workshop as the research object, based on the related researches on MES system, combined with the questions and needs from large motor enterprise’s coil production, an architecture and functional model of manufacturing execution system that are fit for coil workshop production are proposed here.Firstly, based on researches of the definition, background, development history and research actuality at home and abroad of MES system, the thesis analyzes the production characteristics and workshop production process of coil workshop in the motor enterprise, and comes up with the functional architecture of MES system, which is suitable for coil workshop, and taking advantage of the IDEFO functional modeling method, the MES’s four functional models, system management,basic data management, production management, and performance analysis are proposed. The models contain all the business activities of coil production.Secondly, taking the coil workshop of YJ Motor Company as an example, a detailed survey of the business in coil workshop is conducted. Based on the analysis of the demands and business objectives of coil workshop of manufacturing execution system, according to the system design principles,and taking advantage of built MES’s functional models, a MES system functional framework which is suitable for the coil workshop in YJ Motor Company is built and the every function module is designed,and finally the expected application effects of the system are also analyzed.The study of this paper has an reference and guidance role for the motor enterprise to implement the MES system and improve the level of information.
