Ice disaster loads and environments are the key controlling factors for constructions of offshore structures, therefore, how to predict ice force on offshore structures has been paid more and more attention. However, due to complexity of physical and mechanical properties of ice, an acknowledged physical model describing the interaction mechanism between ice and offshore structures has not been developed. Field investigation is deemed to the most effective method to research, but it is difficult to measure directly because of the complicated conditions, execrable environment and high expense. Therefore, the main work of this paper is to study the interaction between ice and wooden trestle by applying physical model experiment. For the winter minimum temperature in Dalian City may reach to-18℃, various kinds of coastal structures such as landing stage, wooden trestle, bank and so on, will cause some engineering problems due to freeze. The coastal waters of Dalian isn’t complete frozen, the waves of the sea can be crossed the revetment parapets of East Harbour business landscape areas, and the seawater can’t be discharged well, and it will be frozen when the temperature is low under the wooden trestle. Forecast that the ice thickness under the wooden trestle inside of the breakwater can reach to20cm locally, and the wooden trestle may be damaged by the upward expanding force of ice. To explore the influence of the expansion of the ice deformation, simulating several circumstances of the actual situation, conducted frozen expansion test in the he low temperature test lab; Conducting bearing capacity test of simulate drawing destruction by the compression-testing machine; And in order to understand the influence of the freezing and thawing of ice to the wooden trestle, designed repeated freezing and thawing test. The results show that:just conducted a frozen expansion test, the specimen didn’t have obvious deformation, when the surface of the water and the underside of wooden trestle kept flat, the freezing expansion deformation is the greatest; In the bearing capacity test of simulate drawing destruction, what lead to unstability of the wooden trestle specimen is the metal joint broken, and each metal joint can sustain about600N pressure; But in the repeated freezing and thawing test, with the times of the circulation of the freezing and thawing increasing, the deformation of specimen gradually increasing, and be damaged in the third cycle because of the great deformation of the metal joints.
