In recent years, our tourism economy is developing rapidly all the time, tourism has become the "sunrise industry" of the21st century. With the promoting of Transportation’ Convenient level and the accelerated process of information, many tourists began to give up the tour groups, they select self-service tourism activities instead, this group are known as individual tourists. At present, the absolute quantity of individual tourists’free walking and its share in tourism market are bigger and bigger, the self-service tourism market has huge potential. Subway as the cheapest, most convenient, most comfortable and the greenest member of the city transportation system, is the most promising self-service tourism vehicle for individual tourists. Besides metro economics and the industry of food, lodging, travel, and transport develop in coordination,metro economics take the lead. It makes tourism industry move towards integration——China’s tourism has stepped into the subway age. This paper will select the perspective of tourists to be the entry point of the research, study and design the tourism destination city’s metro vehicle taking Dalian for example.First of all, this paper summarizes the history of subway and introduces the evolution process in different ages of urban metro vehicles. And compares and analyses the modern modeling design of Beijing’s and Berlin’s metro vehicles. Then, based on the theory of modern product modeling design, this paper summarizes the design elements, main content and principles of metro vehicles. By introducing the material and technical status of modern high-speed railway train, It proposes that metro vehicle’s lightweight design must be the trend in the future.Second, according to the spirit of "people-oriented", the paper takes an investigation on the needs of self-service tourisms in both the aspects of tourism demand and the subway ride, using various methods including literature research, field observation and questionnaire survey. Through sorting and analysis of the survey data, to know of the needs of the traveling passengers, making preparation for the carrying out of later design process.Finally, this paper introduces the city style and historical culture of Dalian, and conduct the design position of the modeling of Dalian’s metro vehicle, based on the subway modeling theory and user requirements. Then completes the follow-up design work, guided by the industrial product modeling design process.
