Water is an essential natural resource for human beings’ life which plays an importantrole in economic development, industrial and agricultural production and environmentimprovement. But with the growth of the economy and the progress of the society, waterresource is confronted with various kinds of crises. As a result, water supply source isfacing tremendous limitations, and various complex challenges are lying ahead of watertreatment.Nowadays, the water supply sources of many medium and small cities and townscome from lakes and reservoirs. Reservoir water has seasonal characteristics such aslow temperature and low turbidity so that the conventional treatment techniques cannotwork efficiently. Based on the water resource conditions of the Second Waterworks ofShexian County, a water treatment process on the basis of air flotation method isproposed here.Taking the air dissolution method as an example, which is one of the most widelyused air flotation methods, its process mechanism, system components, effect factors,optimization measures, design concepts and calculation method are elaborated in thisthesis. And then, we introduced combined air flotation processes which are usuallyutilized in practical engineering for the improvement of water quality. Also, to obtain athorough understanding to the treatment effect of combined air flotation processes, wemade an onsite investigation to the Second Plain Waterworks of Hanting District andBailang River Waterworks in Weifang City. After the investigation, we summarized theadvantages, defects and application scope of different kinds of combined air flotationprocesses for reference to future optimization. Besides, by using the entropy ideal pointmethod, a comprehensive evaluation to several different types of combined air flotationprocesses was made, which can also provide references to the design and utilization ofwater treatment techniques. In addition, integrating the reservoir water resourcecondition, the design of water treatment process for the Second Waterworks of ShexianCounty is completed, with lateral-flow tilted lamella flotation-sedimentation tankselected as main structure by scheme comparison.
