In2013, China saw over22.11million vehicles were produced, and over21.98million vehicles were bought. Among the sales, commercial vehicles reached4.05million, up by6.4%year on year. The high-end development of light-duty vehicleshas promoted the technological improvement of engines, gearboxes, and other corecomponents. With such a background, and taking the gearboxes of China’s self-ownedbrands of commercial vehicles as subjects, the design made specific and systematicdesigns and discussions with CAD technology and Pro/E software.In line with practical and effective procedures, the paper set the main parametersof the gearbox in Chapter II, including: determination of center of gravity, distributionof the transmission ratio of each gear and structural design of the synchronizer. InChapter III, the paper conducted modeling and assembly of all the components of thegearbox through computer aided design and virtual locomotion emulating, andchecked the structure and the physical dimension of each components and theaccuracy of relative motions, especially the accurate transmission ratio. Meanwhile,the chapter also demonstrated the working scenario of the gearbox. The final part ofChapter III made static and dynamic analysis of the virtual model. The analysis ofnode displacement studied the influence of gear deformation on gear backlash whenthe primary shaft working in the fourth gear; the analysis of stress distribution hasdiscovered the stress concentration between the primary shaft and the root of therectangle spline of the clutch driven plate, and made optimizations; the model analysisyielded the natural frequency in the first six stages of the primary shaft, and discussedways to avoid resonance and excessive noise of gears by comparing the naturalfrequency and gear-mesh frequency of the matching gear of the primary shaft gear.The paper not only reviewed the design procedure of automobile gearboxes, butalso demonstrated the advantages of CAD/CAE technology.
