Study On Settlement Space And Evolution Of Xiamen Village

Take Xiamen historic and cultural village, Lingshi County, Jinzhong city, Shanxi Province as an example, this paper analyses Xiamen village’s settlement space through its spatial form and spatial structure, based on the definition of the concept of Settlement Space.On the basis of detailed investigation and research and collection and organization of fundamental information about Xiamen village, this paper discusses Xiamen village’s settlement spatial form through site selection, village’s pattern, street, spatial node, and traditional dwelling. Based on the study of Xiamen village’s settlement spatial form, this paper discusses Xiamen village’s settlement spatial structure. This paper firstly analyzes structure and characteristics of Xiamen’s settlement spatial form from Xiamen village’s settlement shape and dwelling’s distribution. Then, this paper analyzes the fabrics of Xiamen village and its large traditional dwelling, based on Space Syntax Theory. Finally, this paper analyzes the affiliation of Xiamen village’s dwelling in terms of street, defense framework, and Chinese clan.Combing the development and evolution of Xiamen village, this paper summarizes the evolution of Xiamen village’s settlement space, and analyzes its evolving reason. In the end, this paper sums up the characteristics of settlement spatial form and settlement spatial structure of Xiamen village, and speculates the future evolution of Xiamen village.
