As a kind of long-distance transportation of modern society, the high-speed railway has advantages of large capacity, low pollution, energy saving etc. With the development of economy and society, the high-speed railway has occupied more proportion in people’s long-distance travel. The EMU’s high voltage electrical system has an overall smooth operation since the harmonious type high-speed EMU was put into operation. With the extension of operating line and increase of the service time of an EMU, insulation faults of the high voltage electrical system occurred, exposed the questions of the not unified equipment standard, and lack of the running maintenance method and standard. In order to ensure the safe operation of the EMU’s high voltage electrical system, reduce the rate of insulation accidents, and improve the level of the operation and maintenance, we launch the research on the reliability of the EMU’s high voltage electrical system.The author made a field research and data collection from the host plant, operating departments, and suppliers of the high voltage electrical appliances, and mastered the detailed accident information of EMU’s high voltage electrical system in recent years. According to the main parts and electrical appliances this thesis classified EMU’s high voltage electrical system into8parts, including pantograph, insulator, high voltage cable, high voltage transformer, surge arrester, circuit breaker, isolating switch and traction transformer. And it established the fault tree model of EMU’s high voltage electrical system through the common fault’s analysis of each part, the reliability model of EMU’s high voltage electrical system according to the schematic diagram and the reliability theory. Based on the statistics of Shanghai and Changchun, the author calculated the reliability index of EMU’s high voltage electrical system, and provided a theoretical basis for the EMU’s high voltage preventive test.For the convenience of practical application, the software package of reliability analysis was developed with the C#language for the EMU’s high voltage electrical system. It includes the schematic diagrams and reliability block diagram models of various EMU’s high voltage electrical system, realizing the reliability assessment and convenient management of the EMU’s high-voltage electrical system accident report. In order to improve the reliability of the EMU’s high voltage electric system this thesis put forward suggestions of preventive test for the EMU’s high voltage electrical system based on the theory of preventive maintenance and the problems existing in the equipment maintenance and repair work, and introduce the preventive test with surge arrester and traction transformer as examples.
