Spatial CAM mechanism has been widely applied in the automechanism, it has a variety of functions like, transmission, guide and control mechanism. China’s science and technological workers was studied and discussed in-deep of spatial cam in geometry, kinematics, dynamics, design theory and methods, CAD/CAM, the application scope and CAM&the supporting parts machining equipment and processing technology, and obtained certain achievements, but the research work mainly limited seen on the analysis and precise calculation of CAM profile, the contour surface equation from these methods are high accuracy in theory, but the manufacture process will be very complex in actual application, and short of geometric intuitiveness, so far, all the required information of spatial CAM manufacture is still stayed on the theoretical analysis, practical application is limited a lot.This topic was proposed from engineering practice, through the systemic analysis of different types of CAM contour surface equation. According to the actual conditions of small and medium-sized enterprises, studied spatial CAM parameterized design and NC machining, simple and feasible. The specific research works are as follow:(1) Utilize Pro/ENGINEER secondary development model, Pro/Program for spatial CAM parametric design, further perfect the parametric design theory of spatial CAM mechanism.(2) According to the spatial cam CAD models, generate the cam NC program through the Pro/ENGINEER NC automatic programming module, to design the reasonable machining processing and use Vericut implement simulation processing.(3) Because of the special cam contour surface is a complex space surface, and the CAD/CAM software of automatic programming must have the calculation tolerance and simplified the complicated space surface, so the NC program is huge, readability is not good and not easy to revise, the article puts forward the macro program for spatial CAM programming based on FANUC processing to improve the machining precision of the CAM.(4) Regarding of the cylindrical spiral groove machining of special cam for labeling conveying mechanism, made a simple and feasible machining method and processing through macro program.In conclusion, this paper puts forward a parametric design method for spatial cam based on Pro/ENGINEER software to provide a CAD model for NCl processing automatic programming, using the macro program for spatial cam NC machining programming, and propose the ideas and methods for the high precision spatial cam processing.
