Electric vehicle is one major development direction supported by the state. High-performance battery, as the power source of electric vehicles is an important factor that influencing the development of electric vehicles. Battery management system (BMS) is the key to performance and safety of battery pack, so tests for the BMS are playing an important role in the development process of electric vehicles. The research goal of this paper is to design a BMS test platform to effectively shorten the development time of the BMS, as well as saving the development cost of the system and reducing the related risks in the development process.On the basis of fully understanding the structure and function of BMS, this paper designs the overall program of BMS test platform which can guide the development of hardware system and software system. The signal simulation module is the key technology of BMS hardware system. Signal simulation module can simulate cell voltage, cell current, cell temperature, battery pack voltage and battery pack temperature which act as the input signals of BMS.This paper selects the PNGV model as simulation model for the battery pack. The parameters of PNGV model are identified by static experiments and HPPC experiments. The defects of ampere-hour integral method in estimating the value of state of charge (SOC) are analyzed. And in order to overcome this problem, we use PNGV model to estimate the initial SOC and find out the relation between temperature and total capacity in the static experiment. Finally, the author puts forward the optimize ampere-hour integral method which can estimate the value of SOC effectively. The accuracy of optimize ampere-hour integral method in estimating the SOC value is verified by constant current charging and discharging experiments.Based on the development of hardware system and software system, this paper sets up a test platform of the BMS. The platform has been used to test the function of BMS which is provided by Zhejiang Wanxiang Yineng battery Co.Ltd. During the test, the BMS performs well and manages the battery successfully.
