The lightning protection research of mountainous35kV overhead transmission lines is a complicated and meticulous work. In recent years, mountainous35kV transmission lines have been the dense region of lightning trip-out occurrence, especially the ones after transforming become the dense lines of lightning. Throughout the domestic and international research, the majority of them set the direction to the macro lightning protection guidance based on statistical data, but rarely involves the specific on-site issues. According to the characteristics of the lightning trip-out on new and transformed35kV overhead transmission lines, this paper proposes a difference measure which can convert the "line (surface)" lightning protection into the "point". In order to achieve the above objective, firstly, this paper analyses the reason of lightning trip-out on new and transformed35kV overhead transmission lines, establishes the mathematical model, selects the representative strain section, analyses the causes of lightning trip-out; secondly, combines with the data of35kV overhead transmission line lightning trip-out over the years, summarizes the terrain features of lines which is prone to happening lightning trip-out, analyses the reason of lightning trip-out in typical terrain; finally, in accordance with the differences of typical terrain, analyses and proposes the difference lightning protection measures of35kV overhead transmission lines in various typical terrain, and tests them in the selected actual lines.
