In terms of hardware, power grid construction take EHT as the backbone to build the sturdy interconnection power grid. In terms of software, intelligent and digital substation has been put forward in2008,the first batch intelligent substations as experimental unit have been put into operation one after another. Intelligent substations have been widely used in anywhere in our country. Intelligent substation is the inevitable trend of the smart grid.The transformer is one of the most important element in a substation Nowadays, transformers in the intelligent substationinclude traditional CT,PT,CVT and electronic, optical and fiber optic transformers, different types of transformers have different characteristics and different prices. There is great engineering significance doing, research and economic analysis. The right selection of the transformer has big influence on the safe operation of power grid voltage class, operation environment, equipment stability, measuring performance, technical advancement, price should all take into consideration The calculation of the transformer’s cost and economic analysis in its useful life span are also important factors.STATE GRID in2011the58thdocument has the regulation that the conventional transformers will still be used as distribution units in220kV or110kV substations, technical and economic comparison should be considerated in the selection of the electronic transformer. The key point of this artical is to compare different types of transformers,such as conventional transformer,Rogowshi coil, low-pow transformer, fiber optical and electronic separate voltage transformer that applied maturely in electric grid contruction, analizing their principles, structure, advantages, disadvantages and practical problems in application. We are putting forward some kinds of proposals on the transformers configuration schemes that can beapplied to110kV substation through analyzing the various schemes on technical and construction costs, we try to find out the best configuration scheme. Finally we will offer a detailed economic analysis on plan implementation so as to select suitable equipments in an objective and scientific way.
