Wheel driven electric vehicle has the advantage of motor drive electric cars andtraditional electric cars,which is considered to be an ideal choice for future advancedfuel electric cars, and now a multiple of the car companies and research institutions ofthe world are doing this research of the wheel driven electric cars.The traditional wheelreducer is planetary gear structure basically, for the transmission of planetary gear hasthe characteristics of high precision and high torque. However, the structure of theplanetary gear reducer is complex, and the production and assembly is difficultcompared to ordinary helical gear reducer. The torque requirements of the compactelectric cars were low relatively, therefore, the wheel reducer was designed to meet thework requirements as the premise in this paper, which had the characteristics of simplestructure and low production assembly difficulty.In this paper, regarding a new type of electric vehicle wheel helical gear reducerdrive system, parametric three-dimensional model of reducer gears were designed andthe contact stress was analyzed by finite element analysis software, which had a greatsignificance for the vehicle performance improvement and high quality designundoubtedly.Firstly, the design and calculation methods of the wheel reducer was described,then the functional characteristics of the various reducer components were analyzedcombined to the parametric technology to determine the main parameters, generalparameters, and their relationship of various components. The feature parametricmodels of helical gears, shafts, bearings, former cabinet after cabinet were realizedultimately, and a three-dimensional wheel reducer model of the general assembly was achieved.The meshing contact pairs of the wheel gear reducer mechanism were defined byusing finite element analysis software ANSYS Workbench. Through the strengthanalysis and modal analysis, six natural frequencies of the assembly were obtained,which played a theoretical guidance for the design of wheel gear reducer mechanism.A nonlinear dynamical model of wheel gear reducer drive system was established,considering the effect of backlash, time-varying, stiffness and disc rotation gyroscopic,nonlinear dynamical equations of the gear meshing iwas deduced.Dynamics simulation of wheel gear reducer mechanism under the considerationof friction is analyzed, combined with the multi-body dynamics theory and ADAMSsoftware. The effects of friction and contact transmission gap generated by the frictionof the wheel gear reducer mechanism were analyzed detailly and obtained valuableconclusions of the design and actual production of wheel gear reducers.The actual research work in this paper is bound to lead some positive guidancesfor further study of the domestic wheel reduce.
