The article based on summarizing the study on bridge lateral collision effects and limit device both in China and abroad,continuous girder bridges transverse collision effects under earthquake and the collision impact on whole bridge structure is studied,provided a theoretical basis for continuous girder bridge on beam placement prevention measures. Main content and results are as follows:(1) Summarize the type of earthquake damage of bridges,as well as introduce some examples of lateral collision caused bridge damage. Presents results achieved and the current situation related to bridge lateral collisions and summarized the characteristics of bridge lateral collision.(2) Introduces two simulation methods(coefficient of restitution approach and contact element approach) for the lateral collision of bridge structures,as well as introduces several common collision models,and the advantages and disadvantages of these models were compared. Finally,by comparing the Kelvin model of adopting to simulate the collision,this model is capable of simulating the collision force changes in the process of collision and taking into account the energy loss in a collision,in finite element analysis are also easier to implement.(3) Introduces non-linear model for simulation and analysis of bridge pier(bars model and fibre model).Describes the parameters of the Takeda tri-linear model,and obtained some of the features sections of the pier by UC-Fyber. Describes some seismic bearings(rubber bearings and friction pendulum bearing and seismic isolation spherical steel bearing) commonly used in bridge engineering and the restoring force model of those seismic supports was introduced. Parameters of the friction pendulum bearings used in this paper are discussed in detail.(4)Taking the She Tang Wei River Bridge on Bao Ji to Lan Zhou assenger dedicated line with engineering background,the finite element model of bridge considering the nonlinear of bearings and pier’s elastic-plastic is created by using Midas-civil finite element software. Study on the stiffness of the limiter,the initial clearance and damping influence on seismic behavior of continuous beam bridge. Results show that the force requirements of the pier will increases as the stiffness of limiter increase,collision force increase with stiffness increase;the effect of initial gap on collision force is not clear;damping enlarged force requirements of the pier,but due to the damping ability to consume some energy in collisions,so enabling reduced collision force in some degree.(5) Through use of two different bearings set up non limited device finite element model and limited device finite element model,and seismic response of bridge under the two models were compared, analyzed limiter effect on seismic performance of bridge structure. The study found that limit device increases the rigidity of the bridge structure, in improving the security of bridge can play a very important role.
