Pier is an important part of water resources and hydropower engineering drainage buildings and the safety of the pier structure directly affects the safety of the water conservancy. With the development of water conservancy and hydropower in China, more and more large water conservancy and hydropower project are constructed. The drainage discharge, working head of the building is becoming more and more big and the pier by the gate thrust role is becoming more and more big, only with reinforced concrete structure has been difficult to meet the needs of large thrust pier safety requirements. The application of Prestressed pier in pier drainage buildings solves the problem in a certain extent, but the prestressed pier doesn’t play an important role in enhancing the p pier stiffness and its construction technology is complex and construction period is long. So prestressed pier still can’t completely solve the security problems of large thrust pier. According to the steel reinforced concrete structure’s high bearing capacity, stiffness, ductility, good features, this paper combines with he engineering practice and proposes a new pier structure that configurate some h-beam in piers and bracket support with steel reinforced concrete technology, that is the so call" H steel reinforced concrete pier".And also this paper studies the iMPact of protective layer thickness on the bearing capacity of the H steel reinforced concrete pier. This paper use the large general finite element software ANSYS to carry capacity analysis of sluice pier. From the pier displacement, stress and crack distribution and load capacity, etc., to verify the rationality of the steel reinforced concrete pier, and to analyze comprehensively the influence of protective layer thickness on the properties of the H steel reinforced concrete pier stress. According to the characteristics of pier structure and the steel reinforce dconcrete protective layer thickness range from 300 mm to 600 mm,studied the pier bearing capacity of The thickness of protection layer 300 mm,400 mm, 500 mm and 600 mm, the following are conclusions:(1) Under the condition of the amount of steel, concrete pier displacement, stress and crack distribution of each department and the bearing capacity of steel reinforced concrete are similar to those of normal reinforced concrete pier and this indicates that steel reinforced can take the place of conventional reinforced concrete pier reinforcement stress of the pier body sector distribution and ox feet bearing. What’s more, the reinforced steel takes little space in the pier and it is advantageous to the application of the steel reinforced concrete pier in the large thrust pier.(2) The protective layer thickness has little effect on the concrete that H steel reinforced concrete pier haven’t reached its ultimate bearing capacity and on the distribution of displacement; when the Structure is damaged, the limiting displacement of different protective layer thickness is different, the limiting displacement first increase and then decrease. The limiting displacement of the pier protective layer thickness of 400 mm and steel reinforced are maximum.(3) The protective layer thickness has little effect on the stress distribution of different parts of the H steel reinforced concrete pier h-beam before the H steel reinforced yield, but after the steel yield, the thickness do has a certain influence on stress, the protective layer thickness of 400 mm type steel yield length and stress is maximum; The stress distribution in the whole loading process of concrete is close.(4) The protective layer thickness has no obvious influence on H steel reinforced concrete pier integral structure parts of fracture distribution and and development. In the whole loading process, the distribution of pier crack and the development pace of crack are close. The pier crack is mainly decided by the performance of concrete material.(5) The protective layer thickness has important effect on the ultimate bearing capacity of H steel reinforced concrete pier structure. When the concrete cover thickness increases from 300 mm to 600 mm, the bearing capacity increases after the first decreases, and when the protective layer thickness is 400 mm,the concrete pier carrying capacity is the maxima.
