The missile, especially the ballistic missile and cruise missile are important factors to determine the winning and losing in the future wars. However, the missile defense system is one of the most important methods to restrict enemy’s missile and break enemy’s deterrence. The ground-based short range and midrange missiles defense system——PAC-3/III is the research object in this paper. Through analyzing the influencing factors of ability and precision of PAC-3/III system’s radar seeker trace and measure target, including the influence of radar itself and the target missile, provided theoretical support for whether can decrease and destroy the detection and tracking of radar to target through appropriate jamming mode and parameters.In this paper, we first briefly describe the research background, research significance and the current research status in domestic and foreign. These contents can well help us to understand the past and present situation of air and missile defense missiles. Secondly, we analyze and model the PD seeker of the Patriot PAC-3/III. According to the public data, we derive and demonstrate the seeker’s performance and some parameters that we are concerned. At the same time, we detailed analyze the operational principle, signal form, signal processing system and the speed and angle tracking model of the PD radar seeker, and describe three common seeker guidance system——tracking method,parallel approach method and proportional guidance method. For the Patriots PAC-3/III of PD seeker, its own parameters including transmit power, signal bandwidth, signal system, etc. will affect the performance, and we conduct a corresponding simulation and verify the analysis results that we have concluded. Finally, we comprehensively study the main interceptor objects of Patriot PAC-3/III, we analyze that how the mobility, RCS and angle scintillation effects on PD seeker performance of PAC-3/III and then we model and simulate our assumption. We verify that the missile that tracts the towed decoy will affect the tracking performance of Patriot PAC-3/III, and we use the model established in the previous section to simulate the interference effects produced by the towed decoy.
