With the development of railway construction in our country, railway transport has gradually entered a high-speed stage, so the design, manufacture and operation of the relevant basic equipments should meet the using requirements. As an important structure in railway track, turnout is a key part to limit the train passing speed. So specialized technology research need to be carried out for the develop, manufacture, pave, maintenance and repair of commonly used high-speed turnout, which can provide the corresponding guidance for the production and application of turnout.All researches in this paper are about 60kg/m-rail No.18 single turnout with the straight passing speed 350km/h. No.18 high-speed turnout design was explained in detail including the structure selection and dimension calculation of turnout, and research and development of key components; the manufacturing process of No.18 turnout was described in detail by introducing production technology and factory-pavement of all the turnout components; the summary of technologies of field pavement and maintenance can be used to solve various problems which appear in the turnout construction and application. The main contents include the following several aspects:(1)The plane alignment type, blade rail cutting style and switch rail selection of commonly used turnout were introduced; the advantages and disadvantages and application scope of various plane alignments were compared; according to the structure feature and using target of No.18 high speed turnout, proper plane alignment, blade rail cutting way and switch rail style were all selected, the geometry dimension of key part was calculated, and then all results were analyzed based on geometry and kinematics to meet the plane alignment design requirements.(2)The key components of No.18 turnout include blade rail, switch rail and wing rail. For all the key components, the structure selection, strength analysis method, fastening system design, stiffness homogenization, switching equipment parameters calculation and new-type locking structure development were described in detail; and the No.18 turnout structure design process was analyzed.(3)The following aspects of No.18 turnout key parts were analyzed involving the production preparation and process, and the methods to solve the problems in the process; and the structure assembly for the switch and frog was simply explained.(4)The plan and the order of No.18 turnout pavement were determined; the key steps, such as the laying of all components of switch and frog, were described in detail; the methods of installing and debugging important components of the turnout sleepers, rails and fastening system were introduced respectively; finally, the quantity of turnout was checked and inspected to ensure the performance reliability of turnouts.(5)The requirements, process and matters needing attention of No.18 turnout were summarized; turnout maintenance and repair were classified according to the using condition, and the control standards of maintenance and repair for turnout components were clearly proposed, which ensures the normal working state of turnout in the operation period.
