With the rapid development of electrified railway in China, traction power supply system demands much highly on its reliability and economy. Traction substation is an important component of electrified railway, traction substation relay protection is the foundation of normal operation of traction substation, and setting of definite value of protection is the prerequisite for traction relay protection and also the main basis for running process.Therefore, a scientific and reasonable setting of relay protection is pivotal.Firstly, this thesis explains fundamental knowledge of relay protection and then explores the meaning, function, basic requirements, working principle and device classification.Secondly, the thesis researches the traction substation relay protection systematically,including traction substation main transformer protection, basic requirements and protection principles feeder protection, capacitor protection. Thirdly the thesis analyses both the principle and requirements of main transformer protection, feeder protection and capacitance protection of the traction power supply system and the methods of setting calculation deeply.Then, this thesis completes the design of Wuan traction substation on Hanchangxian,following the combination of theory and specific practice, the main transformer protectionand capacitor protection, feeder protection setting calculation, while the problems of Wuan the main transformer engineering changes encountered analyzed and proposed solutions.Finally,according to the results plotted completed Wuan traction substation secondary protection of designs, completed all the tasks this design.This thesis researches and summarizes methods of traction substation relay protection setting value through the analysis of characteristics of traction substation loads and operation.At the same time, the thesis discusses and resolves specific problems on anti-phase and phase voltage in engineer alteration of the main transformer, providing some beneficial reference to construction and operation for increasingly developing electrified railway.
