With the rapid development of LED lighting industry in the world, the market asks for more requirements to the LED driver: such as simple structure, easy to control, small circuit scale,etc. So, the research of LED driver which can achieve good performance and has the above characteristic is of great significance.First, this paper introduces the basic characteristics of LED. At the same time, analyze the current development situation of LED market and the trend of the future. Then, the article has analyzed several mainstream LED driver solution. Based on this analysis, the paper choice the non-isolated buck architecture with ground floated. This article is based on CSMC second generation 700 V high-voltage BCD technology, the chip works on boundary-conduction mode with cycle-by-cycle current limit. The control mothed is simple and don’t need loop compensation. First,the paper explained how the system works and gived the design methods. Finish the design of each module according to the electrical character. Like bandgap, reference, peak current limmit comparator, valley detection comparator, LED short circuit protection and LED open circuit protection. At the same time, the paper gives the detailed description and analysis. Finally, based on the simulator of Spectre, the paper has comprehensive simulations of each module and system. The simulation results can meet the specification and requirements.The chip in this paper integrated control part, startup part, and power MOSFET. Therefore, it can achieve simple external circuit and greatly reduced the cost of driver. So, it can be a market-competitive LED chips. |
