With the rapid development of space technology, the working safety and reliability of aero engine have attracted more and more attention. As the core power of the plane, its performance affects the aircraft flight performance, reliability and passenger safety. Virtual reality technology can reduce the cost of product development effectively in recent years, and used in the manufacturing industry widely. In order to guarantee the reliability, ensure the safety of flight aircraft and reduce the maintenance cost of aviation engine, aero engine fault diagnosis based on virtual reality technology is studied in the support of the National Natural Science Fund Project "Fault prediction and optimal maintenance of complex electromechanical system based on virtual reality technology".First of all, the fault mechanism of aero engine is analyzed like a sliding oil system, sealing system and the spindle bearings. The fault and the location are explored. Then, the parameters model of aero engine is established used the virtual reality technology which lay the foundation to simulation and fault reproduction. Then, the boundary conditions of the virtual model are determined and the constraints are added in virtual environment to simulate aero engine real work process. The fault form of mechanical system can be shown by virtual reality technology by combining EON Studio platform with LS-DYNA platform. At last, in order to study fault diagnosis of aviation engines, the aero engine fault diagnosis model is established according to the priori knowledge and historical information based on the BRB (belief rule base method). The accuracy of the model and fault diagnosis is verified through virtual simulation. This paper provides a reference for fault diagnosis of aero engine mechanical system.
