With the rapid development of city construction, the city center exists more and more buildings,which the land sources in the city center are day by day tense, and part of the construction land expands from the central area of the city to the surrounding hilly region. In order to make use of land resources fully and reasonably, the foundation pits are usually arranged at the valley,and the surroundings dug into the vertical slope, which is supported by retaining piles, and the circular passage is set between the pit and slope. Then the limited soil is formed in the front of the slope retaining structure.At present, the researches concerning the effects of limited soil on slope retaining structure are few. The current codes for slope engineering and retaining and protection of building foundation excavations have not given the related design bases of limited soil on slope retaining structure. The civil engineering designers determine the size of its impact by their personal experiences, or without considering the effects of the limited soil conservatively, so that the devises of slopes and foundation pits are not insecure or economic.In this dissertation, the domestic and foreign documents related to the limited soil impacted on slope and pit supporting structures are reviewed, and relevant theories and methods on rock and soil retaining structure design are summarized.With the help of ABAQUS software, finite element model of the effects of limited soil on the retaining structure was built to analyze the effects of limited soil on slope retaining structure. Modified Cam-Clay model is adopted in the soil. By changing the widths, heights of the limited soil,the horizontal displacement and bending moment laws of retaining structure are explored; when the soil in different friction angle, the changing rules of horizontal displacement and bending moment laws of retaining structure.The numerical model of limited soil in the front of slope retaining pile of a foundation pit and slope engineering in Hunan Hengyang was established in this dissertation, which simulated the effects of limited soil on retaining piles, and the simulation results was compared with the monitoring data,that proved the rationality of the numerical analysis.Considering the favorable effects of limited soil on slope retaining pile, the fixed depth of retaining structure is decreased, the construction period is shorten, and the project investment is reduced, possessing good economic and environmental benefits, which can provide reference for similar engineering design and construction.
