As a kind of medical auxiliary equipment, nursing bed has been widely used in hospitals, nursing homes, homes and so on. In view of the elderly patients and disabled people who lose lower limb motor ability, a multi-function nursing bed is innovative designed based on the theory of module. This nursing bed that with the function of getting up, side rollover, integral lift and lower limb movement, give full consideration of the patient’s lower limb auxiliary exercise and daily life needs, with characteristics of functional extensibility, highly customized, more reliable rollover movement and flexible lower limb movement.Through the analysis of the related literatures and comparison research of domestic and foreign nursing bed, the modular design thinking was determined to use in this design of nursing bed. It can avoid repetition of design and the waste of function, achieve the fast "custom" of product design, shorten the design cycle, enhance the interchangeability of nursing bed modules, and achieve standardization and generalization of the product.Based on analysis of the function, the function of nursing bed had been determined: getting up, side rollover, sitting up, integral lift and lower limb movement(leg lifting, leg bending, cross activity of leg). Nursing bed had a preliminary module partition based on the theory of module and the structure of the nursing bed. Used fuzzy clustering to validate this partition and determine the final results. Nursing bed is divided into basic module, function module and extended module. The shape and movable board size, the performance index, the space layout of nursing bed were determined and optimizing configuration of function institutions. The three-dimensional model of nursing bed was established by UG.The detailed design and dynamics analysis of the nursing bed had been done. The design of lower limb movement realized the functions include leg lifting, leg bending, cross activity of leg. It realizes the nursing combined with exercise training. Side rollover module uses comb type bed boards(Patent number: ZL 2014 2 0214564.0) which make this movement more comfortable, reliable and thoroughly. Used MATLAB to analyze the motion parameters and mechanical parameters based on the theoretical model. Among them, lower limb movement module which is complicated and have highest performance requirements used the contrast method to illustrate the correctness of the theoretical calculation results by ADAMS. Side rollover module which has highest bearing capacity requirements had been optimized and finite element analysis, ensure the safety and reliability of the bed.A fully functional virtual prototype model of nursing bed was set up by assembly module with the unified interface. The nursing bed was analyzed as a whole from uphill, downhill and lateral stability. The analyses show that the nursing bed has the very high stability in every situation. Key components of the stress and strain results were put forward from finite element analysis which checked the body strength and rigidity. These results show that the structure of the nursing bed has a high safety factor, can fully meet the requirements.
